Inspect What You Expect
This month I’ll wrap up the numbers behind canvassing. I’ll wrap it up the same way I started it… with the question I get asked most frequently at on-site consulting days and seminars, “How many leads should a canvasser get per month, per week, per day or per hour?”
Over the past three months we’ve looked at both front-end and back-end numbers to be able to track and measure your canvassers, and be able to make the decisions and adjustments needed to improve your lead generation through canvassing.
The key is, “are you tracking?” If you’re not then how do you know if you’re improving? If you have an established canvassing department or are new to canvassing and you are not tracking your numbers then use my front/back-end matrix to get started. (See the March issue for front-end numbers and April’s issue for back-end numbers – the links are to the left)
With the select group of companies I work with personally I find they tend to be on an island unto themselves. That’s to say they generally go about doing what they do, canvassing, tracking, measuring and improving, yet I often get asked, “how do their numbers compare to others who are canvassing?”
With that thought, and to bring the numbers game to a close in this month’s issue I’m going to do something I’ve never done before in an open platform like this.
I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
If you’ve asked yourself, “How are we really doing?” “Where can we, and what should we be doing to improve?” then you’ll want to take part in this unique exercise, because the answers will be revealed in your numbers. Here, you’re going to have the opportunity to privately and anonymously plug in your numbers and have them tallied and compared with the thousands of other companies who canvass across America and receive this newsletter. From those numbers I’ll generate the average results based on the numbers submitted. I’ll then publish the results in next month’s newsletter and you’ll be able to see how your results compare against a national average.
In comparing your numbers against that national average you’ll immediately know if your results are above or below what others are doing. If you’re above, great for you; if you’re below, it’ll give you insight on where you may need to improve.
Along with the averages we publish next month I’ll also provide feedback in what I see, based on those numbers. When I do, and you read my comments, I may or may not be speaking to your numbers, though I can guarantee it will give you insight on how and where you can make adjustments in order to improve your numbers.
There are only 8 components of information you’ll need to plug in and it will take you less than 2-minutes to complete.
The more companies participate in this survey the more accurate the baseline average will be and the more definitive your results will compare.
You’ll want to use your front and back-end numbers based on April 1 through 30, 2009. If you don’t have your exact numbers then use your best educated guess.
Click on the link below and you’ll automatically be transported to a special page where you can enter your data. You’ll be asked to enter your email address though this is only to validate that the data being submitted is being done so by a registered recipient of Canvassing Insider. We want to eliminate any stray data that could skew the results of the survey.
